What inspires you?
Seeing successful Black women is such an inspiration to me. I want to push harder every day because I respect their hustle. Seeing others lead by example instills hope that I can one day be an influential leader myself. Everything that I’ve been through, good and bad, has a lesson behind it and has helped me to I trust myself. I want to use these lessons to guide others and encourage their faith in their own unique journeys.
I am currently a senior at the University of Louisville studying communication. As an intern at Ohlinger Studios, I want to gain experience and knowledge that will enhance my educational journey.
I was born and raised in Louisville, KY, and have always wanted to explore the world. My plans after I graduate involve moving further south and opening my own store front. I’d be selling apparel for women of all sizes as well as working with big-name clothing brands/companies. My interest in this field reflects my desire to understand human interactions and learn how to express my ideas.
I believe it’s important to be willing to learn and to know how to express your ideas, too. In my first internship, I worked alongside the CEO of NSPIRE Enterprises, Nicole Brassington. This work was very inspiring to me because it was hands-on and helped prepare me for my career. NSPIRE Enterprises’ mission revolves around social change and equality by taking an innovative approach to female economic empowerment through entrepreneurship. Similarly, Ohlinger Studios’ summer internship program offers me the opportunity to work side-by-side with real publishing professionals and clients with whom I might develop lifelong relationships.
One of my strengths is paying attention to detail. I know that difficult projects come with deadlines and it’s important to meet them having made as few mistakes as possible. Another of my strengths is being creative. My imagination plays a big part when I need to find creative solutions to problems in the workplace.
