What impact do you hope to have on the world?

My time at DNA has opened my eyes to the growing population of people struggling to survive all around me, people who with just a little help can go from surviving to living; it is on those lives that I hope to have an impact, however big or small.

I see the Ohlinger Studios internship as an opportunity to work and grow in an exciting new field. I am a Computer and Information Science major at The Ohio State University looking to apply those skills and pick up some new ones during my time here.

In my work in computer and information science, I’ve learned several different programming languages (Java, C, Assembly, etc.) and gained further understanding of the myriad steps it takes to create even the simplest programs. For example, one of the first projects I worked on was creating a calculator–which took me over a week!

Alongside computer programming, I enjoy doing freelance graphic design work and occasionally creating overly designed Instagram posts for fun. After I graduate, I will pursue a career in User Experience (UX) Design, a field that appeals to both my creative and my technical sides.

Outside the internship, I am on the Board of Directors at a nonprofit organization called Daily Needs Assistance (DNA) in Plain City, Ohio, which aims to serve and uplift the impoverished. Over the summer, I’ll be involved in our summer lunch program, caring for and just having fun with the children of the larger Plain City area. In addition to my hands-on involvement with DNA, I co-chair our summer lunch program committee, organizing our 4-week camp in collaboration with businesses and individuals of Plain City. I also serve on our external communications team which aims to improve connections between DNA and the communities we serve.

If you catch me in the real world, I am most likely to be at the gym working out or running, grabbing food at a restaurant I’ve never been to, or planning an overseas trip to visit family. Just don’t start a conversation about my favorite movie or song because I might not stop talking!
