What inspires you?
All forms of art inspire me, and moving from one medium to the next is what brought me into the digital world of media. As I have navigated many changes in my life, my understanding of the importance of collaboration has grown, which is why I am exhilarated to be on Ohlinger Studios’ and Enlight’s team! I hope to be an essential wheel in the machine that produces quality content for purpose-driven entities.
I joined Ohlinger Studios as an associate intern for Enlight Media. My work involves aspects of video post-production, copyediting content, and serving as a creative consultant for select projects.
My journey into visual arts started with acting in musicals. I was a performer for many years before I started working behind the scenes as a prop and set designer. These experiences widened my visual vocabulary and allowed me to start venturing towards a larger goal. I eventually made the shift to filmmaking because I wanted to write and produce narratives on a more substantial scale rather than performing in the middle of them. I picked up my first camera at age 18, and I eventually found myself in film school at Syracuse University's Department of Film and Media Arts.
Graduation was a bittersweet moment for me because it took place when Covid-19 started, and a majority of the entertainment industry stopped working for an extended period of time. After returning to my hometown in Appalachia, I continued to build up my portfolio in isolation during the entirety of the pandemic. I worked tirelessly to get my work into every available virtual film festival and gallery, and my network with other creatives began to expand. I continue to hone my craft and meet other artists in the Columbus College of Art & Design’s MFA program. My current research involves the incorporation of video into sculpture and place-based art artifacts (particularly with geocaches and QR codes).
