What inspires you?
The Ohlinger Studios team inspires me! Our team includes full-timers and hundreds of freelancers—all from a variety of backgrounds and experiences in education and publishing. Team members show such care in the creation and development of content. We believe that our clients and the learners they serve deserve the very best from us—and we deliver. That is inspiring!
I’ve been a member of the Ohlinger Studios team for over thirteen years. During that time, I’ve taken on a variety of roles including Development Editor, Managing Editor, Director of Development and Resourcing, and Chief Operating Officer. I began serving as the Chief Executive Officer in 2023. Prior to joining the Ohlinger team, I spent almost two decades in public schools, first as a classroom teacher and then as a school administrator.
The importance of teachers and education was clear to me from an early age as both my parents were dedicated, passionate teachers. I grew up listening to stories about students, classrooms, and schools. Some of my most meaningful childhood memories are of my parents’ former students coming to our house looking for a good meal, help with college applications, personal advice, or a sympathetic ear. From a young age, because of my parents’ example, I wanted to be a teacher, so I practiced on my younger sister by making her play school with me.
Naturally, I majored in Education in college, and I saw the impact of good educational content in my professional life, from organizing, implementing, and creating educational curricula as a teacher on the border of the Navajo Nation and then as a teacher and curriculum director in west Phoenix.
During my years at Ohlinger Studios, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles in publishing while remaining involved in education. I am proud that I, along with the Ohlinger Studios team, have had an impact on a wide range of students, from K-12 to higher education to workforce learning.
